Plants in a container or potted plants are a common way of incorporating plants in an area where there is limited space. It is also an effective means of adding plants in urban areas where the soil is limited. Container gardening adds versatility to large and small gardens. You can place them at any part of the house, mount it on a windowsill, or you can even hang them on your porch. Getting into container gardening is easy. Here are some tips on how to take care of plants in containers.
– First of all, make sure that the containers you are using have drainage. Normally, pots have drainage on the bottom to drain out excess water. Without holes, there is a great chance that your plants will drown and rot. Our Florence Tall Trough is one example of a concrete planter with great drainage holes. This planter is perfect for residential and light commercial use. Looking into custom planters is also a good idea so you can personalize your pot on whatever your project needs.
– In a container or not, plants need good soil. Make sure that you are aware of what potting soil to use. It also depends on what specific type of plant you are working with. Sandy Soil – Sand is the largest particle in the soil. Blanket Flower, Butterfly Weed, Adam’s Needle. Clay Soil – Large clumps of clay that are heave and do not drain well. Heuchera, Iris, Castor Bean. Silt Soil – Feels soft, holds moisture, and very rich in nutrients. Mahonia, Birch, Ferns.
– Watering is one of the basic tasks that should be done in gardening. It can be a little bit tricky because some plants require more water than others. You need to learn how much water your plants need to keep them healthy. You can use a Drip Irrigation System so you don’t have to water daily
– Plants need sunlight for photosynthesis. Make sure your plants get an adequate amount of sunlight. For this reason, window sills are a great place for indoor plants.
– Sounds complicated but deadheadding is a simple task. It’s a process of removing or cutting off wilted blossoms to encourage your plants to keep producing more flowers. This helps push new blossoms out and makes your plants grow bigger and healthier.
As a bonus, a plant without dead blossoms looks more beautiful, doesn’t it?
– Bugs are part of nature. There will always be pest chewing on your plants and that’s normal. Not all pest damage requires action. As gardeners, you should consider what level of pest activity that should be tolerated and what requires intervention. It is also a good thing to educate yourself about “good bugs” and “bad bugs”. – Weeds are some of nature’s most fearsome plants. It can weaken your plant by hogging the nutrients and moisture from them. Do your best to remove them regularly. There are other things to consider to ensure the growth of healthy plants but here are some of the most important things to take note of. With these basic tips, you can bring out the best in your garden whether indoors or outdoors. Let us know in the comments if you have any other tips you’d like to share. There are studies that show how shrubs, plants, and trees improve the appearance and reduce pollution in these areas. Increased greenery in cities has a positive impact on public health through the reduction of smoke, dust, carbon dioxide, and other pollutants. That’s a win-win situation for everyone. IOTA Moscow Planters have been chosen by designers of a carpark in Blibli, Queensland to improve the landscaping of the area. The rough sandy texture of the planters matched the contemporary look of the car park. The planters were lined-up against the wall as a mark to indicate the borders of the area and avoid accidents. While the plants aren’t that tall enough to provide shade in the area, it can provide an eye-relaxing view. The planters were made of high-quality fiberglass and cement with a colour that provides good contrast with the concrete paving. Another car park greening project can be seen on Maroochydore. Designers chose the fiberglass planters which provide a modern feel with its smooth paint finish that has varying shapes and sizes. The parking area is host to different establishments and wide roads and scattered plants and trees. Even with the trees, the area is still mostly concrete so the only way to add more plants is through container gardening. These are just some examples of how planters can improve our surroundings. It may sound simple but the impact is more than what you realize. Agree? The post Planters that Work Perfectly for Parking Lots appeared first on IOTA Designer Planters. The charcoal colour of the cube planters provide a nice contrast to the concrete. It even matches the colours of some of the surrounding architecture. Manhattan Charcoal Cube Planters are made of lightweight fiberglass. The Cube 1000 variety is large enough for commercial as well as residential areas. The planters are durable enough to withstand weathering damage. You can leave them outside in full sun without having to worry about the colour fading. We would just recommend an annual coat of wax car polish. In terms of functionality, the row of cube planters helps to differentiate the pedestrian area from the parking area. It also helps to add some green foliage to an area that is dominated by concrete paving and steel bars. Planters provide landscape designers a means of incorporating plants in concrete spaces where planting is usually not possible. Plants are important for it’s calming and cooling effect in public spaces. Not to mention, plants help keep air pollution down. Because of these benefits, it is ideal for all public spaces to have trees and plants. IOTA Australia’s fiberglass planters come with a full 3-year guarantee. Unwinding is a must for people who are battling stress in their daily lives. But now, most indoor pools need enhancements. Without trees or plants, the beach-vibe is incomplete. Adding up huge planters to handle this kind of plant is one of IOTA’s specialties. In Gold Coast Deepwater Point Apartments Poolside, Palm trees are creating structural damage as they grow. They need to be re-planted before they create irreparable damage.
Since we are talking about trees here, normal pots wouldn’t able to handle this. IOTA’s large containers in fiberglass were the solution they found. Manhattan Cube 1000 is great as poolside planters because of its size and material. The planters were brought in to hold a rare palm variety native to Round Island in the Indian Ocean Mauritius Group. Additionally, the ground was reinforced as well with concrete to cope up with the weight of the Palm tree and Manhattan Cube. They were never wrong on choosing the Manhattan Cube Planters. It became an attractive solution to pool landscaping. Another poolside project was on Ocean Sands at Main Beach. Here, the Venice lightweight planters are strategically positioned at the stairwell near the pool to soften hard edges. The planters add a pleasing ambiance since it perfectly blends with the colour of the area. It also holds plants with low growing topiary but the landscape was made even better by tall palms trees on the sides and the background.
